Fulfilled: Serving is the Mission

Posted by Erik Hall on

For the next four weeks we will be taking a slightly different approach to the weekly blog. Together with our worship theme: ‘Fulfilled: The Church on Mission’, we will be reflecting on questions relating to the mission of the St. Andrew UMC:

Welcoming all to where Christ is the center, love is the answer, and serving is the mission

We are excited about our future! God has something BIG planned for St. Andrew! Together we need to discern and discover what God wants to do through us. Please consider sharing your feedback after you have prayerfully reflected on the following questions. You can reply on this blog entry, reply on this Facebook post, or you can hand in the devotional card you received during worship this past Sunday.

13 For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, but through love become slaves to one another. 14 For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Christ humbly took the form of a servant. He said that the greatest shall be servants of all. He calls us to serve, not ourselves, but God, God’s kingdom, and others. As a church, serving is our mission. We can’t do everything…   but we can bring a servant’s heart, like Christ’s, to all we do.

What is ‘service’?

How are we equipped to serve at St. Andrew UMC?

Who do we need to be serving in our community?

Who do we need to serve more (or better) in our community?
